Australians lost a record $3.1 billion to scams in 2022, much of which was targeted towards users of banks and financial institutions. Westpac is now using Branded Calling, powered by Vonage, to ensure its customers are confident that when they receive a call from their bank, it really is Westpac calling. The recipient can also be notified on their screen what the call is regarding before even answering. In partnership with Vonage, Chatti is now rolling this technology out across Australia to organisations that wish to provide their customers with higher customer security and customer service. Westpac customers will soon be able to receive calls securely through the banking app via an innovative partnership with Optus. "Bank impersonation scams are one of the biggest scams we face at the moment," says Westpac CEO Peter King.
